I just wanted to take a minute and stress to all the Dharma Dummies listeners and readers of this board who have not yet registered or made a post in the forum.

Please do!

As someone who for many years used to listen to podcasts or read boards and reply in my head but never on the baords, I am so glad I finally do.  (Maybe you aren't   but, it's a lot of fun for me)

I understand there are some places where it can be very intimidating to post or there is such a complicated, strict culture that you feel like you're going to be yelled at for doing something wrong.  Chris and Clay have set up a very safe place here and the 24 (at present) members who have accounts so far have been sticking with that.

So please, join us... . Post a simple "hello" in the Chit Chat folder (don't worry if you put it in the wrong spot, Chris and Clay can move it - and they may not even care if it's out of place).  Or share your crazy theory... or even just post a one word "yeah." after someone else says what you think too.

You'll be surprised how quickly your confidence and presence online grows.

Also, as someone who makes my own podcast and blog, I can tell you that any sort of response makes it so much more fun for me.  At my blog, I have over 3,000 comment attempts from spammers where they promote all kinds of stupid sex stuff, but I have 1... (ONE!) real response to something I wrote.  That one response erased months of frustration and meant a lot to me.   Elton McManus and I have a podcast of our own, and it thrills us to get any kind of acknowledgment that there are listeners out there.

I know Clay and Chris can see all types of stats, but still... this is a great community, and one where you all should feel comfortable making occasional contributions.  Let this be your push....

:::shove::::

see you in the forums.

-Scott-

Hear hear!

Its always good to get some new perspective on the things we have seen. You may have noticed things we have missed! We are a very friendly bunch and do not flame each other. We might 'agree to disagree' on a particular theory but it stops there...

So stand up and let your voice be heard! (Or at least your keyboard!)

Welcome to the Dummy Boards and say what is on your mind!

Thanks for the kind words Scott. We do try and do our best with this little community we've started. Also, I can personally attest to the goodness of Elton and Scott's podcast "Apotheosis of a Bombast." It's worth a listen just for the musical intros alone. Plus Elton has the UK accent, so everything he says just sounds way cooler.

Anyway, thanks guys for the positive words. Now, I'm back to the editing room...

I am here!    It looks like a great forum.  My participation may be sporadic.  I have three (soon to be four) kids and I teach online science and math courses.  When I need a break from the monotony of explaining Algebra problems, I usually browse Lost forums!  I look forward to getting involved here.

Glad to have you Harriet!  Looking forward to seeing you around the board.  Great thoughts on the Economist, btw!

I was one of those "invisible" readers but only because I forgot my old log in info lol. I finally made up a new user name.  I think it's a keeper!
