Reply with quote | #1 | I'm not putting forward any evidence for this.....there is non!! Wishful thinking?......Oh yes!
He was my favourite character. He was far from perfect, in fact he was a sinner with a shady history. The island needed him to die so he can rise again forgiven of his past sins. That is why Desmond couldn't save him. (almost religous this!)
He will travel back in time when the island is shifted again....and Charlie will become Jacob.
Like I say, no evidence, just my wishful thinking! __________________ A Podcast for Red Dwarf fans http://scuttercast.podbean.com/

What would happen if Jack could shift it like in the video game? Would the fans revolt? I think it would be an interesting concept worth exploring. Personally, I think Des is the only one capable of shifting it as he is the only true variable. __________________ "Thank you, Lord!" ... ... ... (time jump)... (down pour)... "I take it back!" |

Reply with quote | #7 | I was so excited when I'd heard about that at Comic-con!
I just hope it isn't all a flashback! Did you hear about what Dominic had written on his hand? "Dead or Alive"
Intrigued?.......oh yes!! __________________ A Podcast for Red Dwarf fans http://scuttercast.podbean.com/

Reply with quote | #8 | Charlie's hand, "Am I alive?"
I think all the scenes with Charlie, Boone or any returning to 2004 would have already been shot same time as first season. Just not possible to recreate.
Given that. Maybe these are off-island alternated time lines or some other plot device driven scenes. I think that DC are going to want us to think that Jack's plan worked. But we can't have two time lines, as discussed ad nauseam.
So in visions/dream or by Hurley/live as the island directs.

Lotto- I think we can have 2 timelines plus some, but the final outcome will always be the same. Hawkings said she could save the guy in the red shoes, but what's the point? He would just die another way. Desmond got smacked by the oar instead of the bartender, but the fight probably still went down. And then there is Charlie. He was set to die several ways, we even saw one. That was reality until Desmond changed it. Like Des said, "I don't know how long I can keep doing this, brotha!" So Jack changed the past, now time will course correct itself, like Final Destination. The ultimate picture will be preserved. __________________ "Thank you, Lord!" ... ... ... (time jump)... Reply with quote | #10 | I mentioned this in the Time Travel episode of ReThinking Lost (Ep 14) but I have a problem with the idea that there can be multiple time lines that all must have common .. well, call them points of intersection. Like a chain of 8's...
It suggests that temporal momentum favors certain events more than others. Some things can change and create divergent timelines but they must all arrive at some common point (the death of a character, for example)... why? Why is the death of a character more important than the actions which caused the death in a particular timeline?
So, Flight 815 crashed in the main plot timeline and a great many things happened. People said and did things. People died, people lived, some of whom were main characters.
If there is a reset, why is Charlie's death something that's inevitable and the universe will course correct for it, but not Ethans or Nikki and Paulo or Alex? (beside's the obvious it's only a story rationale).
I feel like it all has to happen again. And it's okay that it feels like the character has choices ... maybe it felt that way the first time and he/she wasn't aware or it didn't have the same significance... but the choices must be the same.

I like the idea of multiple time lines going on at once . I think it would be interesting to see an alternate time line where 815 never crashes. It would be cool to see the Losties still cross paths even though there was a "re-boot". It would also be cool to see what all changes (The Butterfly Effect comes to mind). With all that being said, I still want to see more of our current time lines as well. I am beyond excited for Season 6! |
