Through two "segments" it's spoiler-free.

Kind of neat, but hardly a hiatus filler.  Anyone else watching these?

What do you think about 'em?

ABC has revamped their LOST page.  http://beta.abc.go.com/shows/lost/

Check it out.

Mystery of the Universe seems to be continuing the Dharma storyline.  Which is odd considering S6 seems to be moving away from that.  It may be that this is part of a promotion for release of DVDs in December.  The Lost University (registration September 22) is pointing to the blue ray release.

I like the Mysteries of the Universe. I agree that it does not even come close to satisfying me during the hiatus but it defiantly helps! It is funny because every time I watch one I cannot help but think this is the exact type of show I would have been watching!

Next one out on the 15th.  Razzle, would you be willing to start a conversation/quick recap on this thread.  I have watched them, but just don't see anything other than the occasional easter egg.

Sure that sounds like fun. I will have to re-watch them though because they all sort of run together in my mind (lost info overload lol). I will try to start the thread tomorrow. I would try tonight but I know my kids are going to be nagging me any second now.

Mysteries of the Universe: The Dharma Initiative

Part One Recap:
Part one is basically an introduction to the idea of there being a secret society called the "Dharma Initiative". They discuss secret societies and how they infiltrate our society without us even realizing it.  They ask, why does Dharma exist and what is Dharma here for? The fear is that Dharma has evil intentions.

The video opens with the creepy saying, "They look like us, they talk like us, they walk among us, yet they are not us" (perhaps there is payoff to "Stranger in a Strange Land" lol.

Part Two recap:
It begins with a story about how an University of Las Vegas student purchases a Dharma jumpsuit at a thrift store. The student wears this jumpsuit to a costume party and poses for a photo in the school paper. Three weeks later, two men appear at the student's door asking detailed questions about the origin of the costume. After receiving all possible information from the student, the two men take off. This student's custume is what started the investigation into the "Dharma Initiative.

They believe that Nevada is a hot spot for other worldly creatures and realizes that workers at Area 51 all wear color coded uniforms similar to the Dharma jumpsuit. They also discover that people who claim to work at Area 51 disappear for extended periods of time.

They began to interview friends, family, and neighbors of people who have mysteriously vanished after answering similar job postings. One guy expresses concern after his neighbor, Phil vanished after his last interview. Someone sold Phil's house, took Phil's car, and even took Phil's dog. Not even Phil's girlfriend knew what happened to Phil. The neighbor said that Phil took five interviews for a security position. The interviews also included strange tests. Family and friends of a grade school teacher, Olivia also expressed concern over Olivia's whereabouts after excepting a teacher position. Olivia also went through many interviews and strange tests. Olivia's apartment was subleased for three years but no one ever heard from Olivia again.

Further investigation lead to the discovery that applicants must take psychological tests, many similar to tests given to the criminal insane. Here is an example of one of the many different tests applicants must take:
1) What three words describe you?
2)What animal do you identify with?
3) Describe your first kiss in three words.
4) Who is your constant?
5) What would you sacrifice to stay alive?
6) What makes you cry?
7) You just stole a sick child's toy. Why?

Part Three Recap:
A Behavior Psychologist, who wishes to keep his identity secret claims he answered one of the job postings, along with his colleague, Odham (spelling?). The Behavior Psychologist reported going through intense interviews. He thought the interviews crossed the line and worried this was some sort of cult, needless to say he did not accept the job. After further research of some of the interview techniques, many believe there may have been brain washing involved.

They discovered a church, that does not own the land it sits on. This church has received over 1.5 million dollars from a private organization. They also discovered many receipts and purchase orders for goods, enough to sustain a colony for long periods of time. Amongst the receipts for limitless resources they also found orders for: 1.4 tons of seeds, ammunition for M1 Carbines, pneumatic tubing, animal care supplies, zookeeper supplies, tons of different electronics, electromagnetic and tesla coils, psychotropic drugs, pharmacological supplies, and soft restraints. Even more strange then all of the previous mentioned was an order for Submarine fuel. The video asks Why does Dharma need a submarine? To possibly sneak about at night? Submarines were used during WW2 to go to the South Pacific. many of the submarines were believed to be lost at sea. Perhaps Dharma has stolen these missing submarines or bought them off the black market?
The mystery continues...

Hey all...

Anyone else notice the dates these are being released on (4th, 8th, 15th, etc.) ? What are they going to do for the last one? December the 42nd?

I've always said (even on this very board) that a lot of the JJ Abrams/Bad Robot shows seem heavily influenced by those awesome late 70's/early 80's fringe-science/paranormal shows I grew up with like 'In Search of... with Leonard Nimoy' and 'Arthur C Clarke's Mysterious Univesre', and this would seem to continue that vibe. And it's a SPOT-ON pastiche of those shows right down to the analog-keyboard music, cheesy ominous voice-over and grainy video with dubbing noise. Another awesome job from the DVD production team responsible for the fake Oceanic 6 Conspiracy Documentary on the Season 4 Set. Just Awesome.

I'm pretty sure I remember reading that these will eventually be released in single episode form edited together with extended content on DVD, and that we'll sort of get our 'DHARMA Initiative' fix from this instead of Season 6, which will have the D.I. on the back-burner for the most part.

I think they'll give us the last few bits of official 'canon' DHARMA info through this venue. Kind of like how the first ARG (Lost Experience) is how they gave us the official canon background on 'The Numbers/Valenzetti' in a way they couldn't have in-show without a bunch of out-of-place exposition just flying out of characters' faces in a very unnatural way that didn't organically fit within the main narrative. I really think the fact that it was created specifically to release 'real' canon backstory from the actual show creators is why that first ARG is still the best. The others didn't really have anything big to say, but the expectation was set - so they just sort of made something up each time just to keep us fans occupied - and it felt that way. Hopefully the info in this will be more 'The Lost Experience' and less 'Find 815' . It's also nice that we might get real info without having to play any awkward "games" that are really just tedious web-scavenger hunts for people with lots of extra time (more than me anyway).

So far so good, I just can't wait to see the full 'episode'

You got to love the background music for these! If they clear up Dharma through these videos I wouldn't mind not seeing any Dharma during the last season.
